Each of the four cities contains a host of architectural and artistic treasures from the remains of the Roman Arena and Theatre to the outstanding abbey of San Zeno and the rare tombs of the Scala family in Verona. Every corner of Mantua has constant echoes of the Gonzaga family and their patronage in the Palazzo Ducale and Palazzo Te of leading renaissance artists and architects such as Alberti, Mantegna and Donatello. Bergamo and Brescia are medieval and renaissance cities full of little known treasures. The study day will be an opportunity to discover these fascinating cities.
